As part of our VooVix Travel Show series for Chelsea Monthly magazine and VooVix TV, we recently had the pleasure of reviewing the acclaimed TANG Restaurant in Cape Town. With branches already thriving in Johannesburg and plans to expand to Dubai, TANG has proven itself as a culinary gem worth experiencing.
From the moment we stepped in, the atmosphere at TANG was nothing short of captivating. The staff, led by our exceptional head waiter, Jimmy, showcased a level of attentiveness and knowledge that elevated our dining experience from start to finish. In our exclusive interview with Frankie Plum, a senior representative of TANG Restaurant, she emphasized that the key to their massive success lies in the passion and energy invested in every aspect of their service.
Passion and energy were indeed palpable throughout our entire visit. From the manager to the waiting staff, it was evident that TANG’s team had mastered the art of hospitality and customer service. Their genuine enthusiasm for their craft was infectious, adding an extra layer of warmth to the already inviting ambiance.
Now, let’s talk about the star of the show—the food. TANG Restaurant boasts an impressive menu that includes a bottle of Graham Beck MCC paired with their signature Oysters and izakayas. The array of choices, such as Oysters with truffle shiso sauce, Rock Shrimp, Sea Bass satay, Salt and Pepper calamari, Wagyu tataki, and Yellowtail jalapeño sashimi, left us spoiled for choice. The culinary journey was further enhanced by the thoughtful offer of a bottle of Nicky van der Walt’s Mirabelle Rosé.
In recognition of TANG Restaurant’s excellence, Chelsea Monthly is excited to announce that TANG has been entered into the South African version of the prestigious British Restaurant Awards—the South African Restaurant Awards launching in April 2024. The official nominations for these awards will be revealed on January 17, 2024, marking the beginning of the public voting period. Stay tuned for the announcement of the categories in which TANG has been nominated.
In the meantime, if you find yourself in Cape Town and crave a taste of luxury in culinary artistry, look no further than TANG Restaurant. With an impending nod from the South African Restaurant Awards, TANG is set to be a name on everyone’s lips in the world of fine dining.
