New music review with Rebeka Molander.

Swedish singer and musician, Rebecka Molander, has recently released her latest single, “Through the Rain”. This director’s cut of the international version showcases a unique blend of easy-listening jazz and folk music, resulting in an organic and soothing sound. The title track, “Through the Rain,” serves as a prime example of what to expect from the EP. The minimalistic piano style, deep round bass tones, and sparse percussion instruments create a flowing mix that highlights Rebecka’s emotional and versatile vocals.

The EP is filled with amazing highlights, with “Get Gone” being one of the most recognizable songs. This track’s fusion of pop, funk, and other styles creates a calming yet sparkly sound. “Timeless Love” is another high point, with the piano chords beautifully intertwining with the vocals, resulting in a soft jazz ballad with a hypnotic feel.

Fans of SADE or Norah Jones will appreciate the incredibly smooth and dynamic sound of this release.

Rebecka Molander has been captivating audiences for over a decade with her self-perceived lyrics and jazz-inspired singer-songwriter sound. She’s a self-taught pianist who opened for famous artists such as Lill-Babs and Jan Lundgren. Her debut album, “Through the Rain,” was released in 2015, with a Scandinavian record tour in 2016. Since then, Rebecka has been a prolific freelance musician, collaborating with top-class musicians like Anders Lorentzi, Andreas Baw, Zoltán Csörsz, David Andersson, and Maciej Szymczyński.

“Through the Rain” is a must-listen for anyone who appreciates music that’s smooth, dynamic, catchy, and energetic. We caught up with her for a quick interview for the National Post;

What inspired you to get into music?
It was not until later in life that I took that step. After piano lessons with a french jazz pianist I decided to give it a go and shortly thereafter I started writing songs. Its a way of dealing with frustrations and hardships in life but also expressing all the “strenght within.”

How would you describe your music?
Sophisticated pop with strong lyrics and a jazzy/funky vibe

What would you say is your recording and song writing style?
Its very personal and authentic. I write about things that are happening to me or my friends. I sit by the piano and work on some tune, repeating it for hours. After I’m finished with the song and can perform it solo by the pano, I introduce it to my band – and they bring their ideas. Then we usually record it live, with some smaller produced details.

Where would you like to see your music career in 5 years time?
Hopefully I’m right where I am now -but with more opportunitys to perform live with my band abroad.
